Welcome!
What is SUSA?
The Salem
Ukulele Strummers Association is an ever-changing
group of ukulele players and enthusiasts who are dedicated to having fun
and fellowship while strumming the ukulele.
Meetings are
typically held on
the second Sunday of each month, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
We meet at the PGE (Portland General Electric) Building in
Salem, Oregon. Click the "Map" button for directions.
The last
30 minutes of every meeting is "Open Mic" time
to perform on
the ukulele or teach the
group a song.
Loaner ukes are
always available for those who don't have one, but want to learn.
Beginners
are offered a free basic introductory lesson at the start of the meeting.
$2.00 is
collected at the door.
SUSA is a
family friendly association.
June's Meeting

The theme for the meeting was More Hawaii Calls. We
continued practicing our songs for the World Beat Festival.
Here are MP3 files of the four Hawaiian-language songs, and one in
English. They are all in the World Beat songbook.
`Opae E
(3.2MB),
Kawaipunahele (3.4MB),
Koke`e (3.4MB)
and E Huli
Makou (1.8MB),
In The Middle of an Island (2.3MB).
It was another great occasion to wear our Aloha shirts!
We practiced the songs that are in our
World Beat
Festival songbook.
EVERYONE in attendance at the meeting got a festival songbook if they didn't get one at the May meeting! |
